A family adventure

Ahoy there! We are a family of four from Wellington, New Zealand who randomly decided to sell up and set sail.
Stewart (Dad, UK, Captain) Hudson (6, NZ, Deckhand) Aisling (Mum, NZ, First Mate) and Isabelle (9, NZ, Deckhand), SHAI in name and considering our lack of experience (Aisling has never sailed!) - pretty shai about sailing!
From idea conception to farewelling family and friends, the process took about a year. We left New Zealand in February 2023, bought a yacht in Greece and moved aboard in April then finally cast our lines in August that year, off to to explore the Mediterranean.
So far so good, no regrets and we haven’t lost anyone overboard. We still have a lot to learn but we’re picking it up as we go and are super grateful for the amazing people we’ve met, from all over the world, who have been so generous with their time and wisdom.
Between sailing the high seas and exploring on land, we mix in work, homeschooling and boat jobs so it’s not all swanning around in the sun and sipping sundowners! (although there is a fair portion of that too, huzzah!)

Join us on our nautical adventure as we swap out school uniforms for swimsuits and trade in our desk chairs for deck chairs.
